Age 74. Monday, June 27, 2011 at her late residence. Born in Elgin and a long time Joliet area resident. Attended the University of Illinois and a graduate of the College of St. Francis Class of 1986 where she was recognized as a Lincoln Scholar. Former partner and manager of Madison Clinical Laboratories. Past President of the Joliet Junior Women's Club, Easter Seals Board of Directors and the Joliet Area Community Hospice, and a Will-Grundy Medical Clinic volunteer. Past board member and member of the Joliet Jewish Congregation. A diehard Cubs fan.
Preceded in death by her husband, Donald Baker (2002); parents, Adolph and Sylvia Bernstein; one sister, Elaine Cohen; two brothers-in-law, Jerald Galowich and Gary Cohen.
Survived by one daughter, Pamela Galowich of Philadelphia, PA; two sons, Jeffrey (Jennifer Radler) Galowich and Bob (Lee Ann) Galowich both of Chicago; three grandchildren, Adam, Jenna and Rachel Galowich all of Chicago; her sister, Harriet (Morton) Barnett of Joliet; one brother, Gene (Nancy) Bernstein of Chicago; her former husband, Ronald (Linda) Galowich of Chicago; her sister-in-law, Deena (Galowich) Hyman; numerous nieces and nephews; three stepdaughters, Jan (Mike) Piasecki of Mahomet, IL, Nancy Baker of Joliet, and Judie Clark of Crest Hill; three step-grandchildren, Chris (Lyuda) Piasecki of Lake Zurich, Ben (Liz) Piasecki of Cicero, IL and Beth (Jeremy) Applebee of Minooka; two step-great-grandchildren, Bailey Piasecki and Hannah Applebee.
Funeral Services for Eleanor A. Baker will be Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Joliet Jewish Congregation, 250 Midland Avenue, Joliet. Interment Bluff City Cemetery, 945 Bluff City Boulevard, Elgin, IL at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Joliet Jewish Congregation or Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation WEDNESDAY MORNING at the Synagogue from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements by:
