Obituary of Robert L. McNear
Robert Lee McNear
A Time to be Born
Robert (Bob) McNear was born December 14, 1939, to Clayton McNear and Victoria Belle Woodward. He was the third child of four siblings, Leon, Clayton and Nora Mae.
A TIme to Live
Robert received his early education through the Lockport School Districts with completion of his high school diploma for Lockport Township High School. At which time he enlisted into the U.S. Army. He confessed his love for Christ at an early age and was a longtime member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church. Through his love, devotion and faithfulness he served many years on the usher board until his health began to fail.
July 9, 1973, Robert wed the love of his life Dorothy Smith in the home they shared for over 50 years. To their union the following children were raised, nurtured and loved; Evelyn and Earnest (Scooby) Darden, Duwayne, Leon, Robert (Patrick), Ardrenna and Tiffiny McNear.
Robert was gainfully employed and retired from Caterpillar Tractor Company after 30 years of dedicated service. Upon retirement he hit the road driving for Joliet Fruit Ranch (Mississippi Store).
Not only was Robert dedicated to his family and friends he held a fond love for music, checkers, teaching and guiding his grandchildren was the sole purpose of his remaining years on this earth. Robert was also a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge located in Joliet.
A Time to Transition
Robert’s health began to severely decline over the past few weeks prior to his passing. To place it lightly, he was always in love with love wearing a smile on his face from ear to ear. February 14, 2024, Robert was called home to glory and a JOB WELL DONE MY SON reigned from the Heavens. Robert is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy McNear; son Leon McNear; brothers Leon and Clayton McNear; and sister Nora Mae McCullum.
