Obituary of Arden Humbert
Humbert, Arden L.
"Ardee"
Age 73. Passed away at home on Sunday, October 21, 2012 with his beloved family by his side.
Son of Frank and Agnes (Petersen) Humbert, Ardee was born May 7, 1939. A graduate of GSW High School, Ardee served four years aboard the USS Hornet, CVS-12 in the Pacific Fleet.
Survived by his wife, Sandy, whom he married November 5, 1961. Also surviving are his daughters, Cindy Johnson and Angela (Howard) Savage; granddaughters, Valkyrie and Ensign Venus Savage and Sarah Johnson; two brothers, Frank and Harold Humbert; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lucille, Twilla and Margaret.
Though Ardee was diagnosed with Glioblastoma multiforme in 2011, he was determined to make the best use of life's extra days obtained from a couple of surgeries which allowed him and Sandy to see granddaughter Valkyrie wed near San Francisco's Muir Woods, participate in granddaughter Venus' Navy commissioning following graduation from USC, where he was her first salute as an officer, and enjoy a hot air balloon ride over Napa Valley for his 50th wedding anniversary.
Retired from Mobil Oil Joliet Refinery in 1995 after 24 years of service. Upon retirement, Ardee was responsible for the formation of the XOM Retiree Club of Joliet, now over 200 members strong.
Ardee loved his family, friends, golf, traveling with Sandy in their camper, and life in general, and was a friend to many. He will be deeply missed.
