Obituary of William D. McBride

William D. “Bill” McBride, age 81, of Channahon, passed way Friday, March 29, 2024, at Meadowbrook Manor, Bolingbrook.

Born September 25, 1942, in Chicago, he was the son of Eugene and Evelyn (Peterson) McBride.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, and worked in Maintenance for Pepperidge Farms in Downers Grove for many years until his retirement.

Bill was a loving and devoted husband, dad, and grandfather who was always there for his family, watching over them with joyful love and laughter.  He actively supported his children and grandchildren in all their activities.  He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and had a passion for the Chicago Cubs and all sports. He will also be remembered for his love of writing poetry and his affectionate love for his dogs. Bill had a loving and personal relationship with God.

Surviving are his devoted children, Julia McBride and William “Bill” (Lauren) Laster; and his grandchildren, Ava, Willow and Lennon Laster and Alexxis “Lexxi” McBride.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kimberly M. (Silva) McBride, (April 18, 2021); his son, Scott Andrew McBride (April 17, 2021); his parents; and one sister, Kathleen Longstreet.

A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of William McBride will be held Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. Noon, at Stone Hill Bible Church, 1516 Edgerton Drive, Joliet, IL.  Pastor Joel Munyon will officiate.  Cremation rites have been accorded and interment will be private.
