Barbara Ann Thompson, passed away peacefully at the age of 66, on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL, with the love of her family by her side. Barbara was born in El Dorado, AR, the daughter of the late Floyd and Betty (nee Rounds) Crenshaw. She grew up in Channahon and was a graduate of Minooka High School, where she was a cheerleader and met the love of her life, Denny Thompson.
Barb dedicated her life to ensuring her daughter Lori was happy and had the highest level of care. In addition, she worked for several years as a floral designer and was proud to be the Vice President of Make Your Mark, The Mark Staehely Pediatric Cancer Foundation. In her free time, Barb enjoyed traveling the globe with her husband making memories everywhere they went. She was always keeping herself busy, whether it was being crafty with her painting, designing stained glass, sewing, or being out in the garden tending to her flowers. Barb was a caring woman who could bring a smile to everyone she knew. She loved her family more than anything and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Barb is survived by her loving husband of almost 49 years, Denny Thompson; her daughter, Lori Ann Thompson; son, K.C. (Renee) Thompson; one granddaughter, Kennedy Thompson; her sister, Glenda (Jim) Wendell, and niece Chrissy (Jeremy) Simmons; nephews Austin, Aiden, and Mason. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws also survive.
She is preceded by her parents; and her mother and father-in-law, Joanne and Richard “Casey” Thompson.
Visitation for Barbara Ann Thompson will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, in Minooka, IL.
