Colleen Sue Cowles
Colleen Sue Cowles, of Joliet, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at the age of 42. Colleen was a twin, born in Berwyn, IL, on March 21, 1982. She was the daughter of Sharon Oakley and the late Allen G. Cowles. Colleen attended Aurora West High School.
Colleen is survived by her children Keyaira, Travis, Chloe, and Corey Childress; her mother, Sharon Cowels; four siblings, Jesse Cowles, Allen Cowles Jr., her twin sister, Melissa (Jerry Ladson) Cowles, and Daniel Stern; four nieces, Alexis, Cressa, Nevaeh, and Taya; four nephews, Raven, Allen, and Gavin; the father of her children, Irving Childress; and her faithful canine companion, “Nala”. She was also loved by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her dad Allen Cowles; maternal grandmother, Patricia Oakley; paternal grandfather, George T. Cowles; her aunts, Cathy Oakley and “Cookie” Cowles; and her uncle Mikey Oakley.
Visitation for Colleen Sue Cowles will be held at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL, on Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of “Sharing of Memories” at 7:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to meet at 10:45 a.m. at Elmhurst Cemetery on Monday, April 22, 2024 for interment.
