For the family. I met Don many years ago as a teenager in our church. He and I were attendants at the wedding of his brother, Thomas and Linda Winchester. He was a good friend, a good neighbor and a devoted Christian. He was dependable, dutiful, and always came to your aid if needed. Harold and I spent many times in Don and Martha's home, eating, laughing and enjoying life. I always wanted to cook like Martha but that never happened! Don and Harold worked together in the church, praying, leading and constructing. I mean hammering nails, sawing wood, painting, anything that needed to be done. I remember the time he (and others) made cow sticks for our yard to celebrate Harold's birthday. What a surprise!
I watched his children grow up in our neighborhood. It was good times and fun times.
Times were not always rosy and sometimes there was heartbreak, but Don always remained steady. And now it is time we celebrate his long useful life and usher him into the gates of the Lord's kingdom. May he rest in peace with the Lord.
