“Bob”
Robert Charles Curl, 87, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on October 27, 1936, to Harold and Marie Curl in Sioux Falls, SD. Bob graduated from Washington High School, served in the United States Air Force, and attended South Dakota State University, earning a Degree in Pharmacy. He began his career as Pharmacist for Osco Drug and retired from the company after more than 30 years as the store manager for the Joliet and Naperville locations.
Bob was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing and training his dogs. He spent his retirement years traveling to field trials. Bob co-chaired numerous local field trials and was the president of the IL English Springer Spaniel Club as well as the treasurer of the National Amateur Field Trial Association.
Bob enjoyed ski trips out west, spring breaks in Florida and traveling abroad with friends.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Carolyn (nee Fredin) Curl; three children, Pam (Vin) Perella, Steve (Gayle) Curl and Stacy (Steve) Merckx; six grandchildren, Lauren, Brandon, Nicholas, Maxwell, Morgan and Grant; and four great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Parker, Knox and Rhodes.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Bonnie; and his brother Jack.
Visitation for Robert Charles Curl will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., at Essington Rd., Joliet, IL, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park with military honors held under the auspices of the United States Air Force.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to American Cancer Society.
