Larry Dale Heck
Age 79, of Morris, Illinois and formerly Shorewood, and Cicero, passed from this life peacefully on Monday morning, April 15, 2024.
Larry was born and raised in Chicago. He was a Millwright for Electromotive in McCook until he retired after 28 years of dedicated service. He was previously employed by GE and Johnson & Johnson.
He is the Beloved husband of nearly 37 years to Joanne (Giovannoni) Heck. Loving father of Lisa (Ron) French, Tracey (Daniel) Contreras, and Shawna (Alex) Heck-Hernandez. Proud grandfather of seven grandchildren, Jenny, Eric, Aidan, Rebeka, Lyssette, Mathew, and Isabella, and one great-grandchild, Zoey. Also surviving are sister-in-law, Dolores (Gary) Jacobs; niece, Regena Alonzo and great nieces, Annabelle and Evie, and many dear and beloved cousins and friends also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents, Fredrick and Wilma (Strain) Heck, and his sisters, Nancy (the late Jerry) Berrsheim, and Mary Kathryn Heck, and beloved companion Sonny.
Larry was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. A self-taught musician, he could play the mandolin, fiddle, electric and acoustic guitars. He was currently crafting a steel guitar and in the past, he had crafted several dulcimer guitars.
In 1980, Larry became a member of AF & AM Cicero Masonic Lodge, transferring to the Plainfield Lodge where he was a past headmaster, and most recently, the Mazon Lodge, where he was a Marshall. He also became a Shriner in 1990. Along with Larry’s many years of service and accomplishments, he cherished God and family above all.
A Celebration of Life to honor Larry will be held at the Morris Moose Lodge at 3835 Rt. 47 in Morris, IL 60450 on Saturday, May 25, 2024, from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m., with Masonic Rights at 2:00 p.m.
As it was his wish, cremation rites have been accorded and his final earthly remains will be interred at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorials in his name can be made to the Medinah Temple or the Shriners Children’s Hospital. NO FLOWERS PLEASE.
