Obituary of Barbara Susan Urso
Barbara Susan Urso
(nee Berrier)
Barbara Susan Urso, of Shorewood, passed away peacefully at the age of 78, on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. She was born on August 12, 1945, the daughter of the late Ira Berrier and Lillian Weimer. Born and raised in Chicago, IL, with her brothers, Barbara graduated high school in Chicago, IL and then attended nursing school for a time.
Barbara and her husband, Paul, created a loving family with their four children. They instilled the values of the love of family, compassion, and kindness into their kids. Barbara spent her life putting others before herself. She treasured the years she spent as a foster parent providing love and support to those she was blessed to take care of. Family was everything to her, and there was nothing Barbara loved more than spending time with them, especially her grandchildren.
Barbara enjoyed her many trips to Vegas with her husband, Paul. She loved the slots and the thrill of the win! When Barbara wasn’t caring for others and enjoying the casinos, she could be found watching the Food Network waiting to find a new recipe to try. She put her heart into cooking and it could be tasted in the food she brought to the table. Everyone loved getting together at her home. The food was amazing and the company was priceless. Barbara leaves a legacy of love and kindness that no one could match.
Barbara is survived by her three children, Nicholas Urso, Karyn (Bryan) Weimer, and Amy (fiancé Evan Jacobsen) Urso; two grandchildren, Bryan II and Lilyana Weimer; her foster daughter, Aja (Vernon) Coleman, as well as their children, Ava, Nia and Vernon III; her foster sons, Brandon and Brian Price; one brother, Robert (Melissa) Andrzejewski; brother-in-law, Peter (Sandy) Urso; and her sisters-in-law, Francine (Martin) Meyer and Barbara Andrzejewski. Several nieces, nephews, god children, cousins and numerous dear friends also survive.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Urso; one son, Matthew Urso; her parents; and step father, Matthew Andrzejewski; and her brother, Steven Andrzejewski.
