 Lynn Schuler

Lynn Schuler, age 72, of Wilmington, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Lightways Hospice, with her loving family by her side. Born June 24, 1951in Bloomington, IL, she was the daughter of Joseph and Joan (Collins) Kelly and was a graduate of Lockport West High School Class of 1970.  She was a hair stylist and the owner and operator of Style Lynn Salon in Channahon for many years, making many lasting friendships with her customers.

Lynn was a loving mother and grandmother. She loved fishing especially with her grandchildren and was secretary for her fishing club. She loved spending time with her friends and family. She was an avid Quilter. She was loved by so many.

Lynn is survived by her loving children, Tiah (Brett) Phillips of Channahon, and Kristopher (Sheena) Schomig of Coal City; her grandchildren, Kensly, Ben and Luke; her siblings, Michael (Nancy) Kelly, Kenneth Flatt, sister-in-law, Kathy Flatt; and brother-in-law, Stanley Laken, sister-in-law Jan (Lee) Henning, and sister-in-law Anita Schomig.  She was also blessed with many devoted nieces, nephews, and cousins. Through Lynn’s marriage to Bill, she became very close with his children, Gloria, Diane, Debbie, and Troy and Grandchildren, Kristopher, Jaythan, Russell, Jody, Andrew, Alyssa, Eddie, Eric, Deanna, Courtney, and Timothy, and their many Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Leroy Schomig and William Schuler; her father; Joseph Kelly; her mother and stepfather, Joan and Dennis Flatt; one sister, Elizabeth “Beth” Laken; and three brothers, James J. Kelly, Dennis D. Flatt and Richard L. Flatt.

A Memorial Gathering for Lynn Schuler will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2024, from 2:00 p.m., until the time of her Memorial Service at 5:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet.  Cremation rites have been accorded and interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Lurie Children's Hospital Chicago,225 E Chicago Ave, Chicago, IL 60611 would be greatly appreciated.  

Special thank you to the staff at Lightways Hospice, Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center and Alden Rehab Center for their great care during Lynn’s battle with cancer.
