Obituary of Pamela R. Rapcan

Pamela R. Rapcan (nee Ware)

Pam Rapcan, passed away peacefully at the age of 70 on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Silver Cross Hospital surrounded by the love of her family.  Pam was born in Blackwell, OK, on April 3, 1954, the daughter of the late Hugh Ware and Vivian McNair.  She retired in 2016 after working many years at Argonne National Laboratory.

Pam grew up in Lockport, where she and her husband raised their family.  They had had a full life of fun and laughter. Pam was an avid reader, loved plants and online shopping.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, but she especially treasured her role as “Nana”. Her sons were her pride and joy. She was full of personality and was always up for a good laugh.  Her “funny-ness” is what everyone first remembers about Pam. Yet, it is her compassion and warmth that most defined her giving spirit.  Whether with old friends or new friends, Pam had room in her heart for all of them.

Pam is survived by her two sons, Chris Rapcan of Lockport and Sean (Stacy) Rapcan of Joliet; grandchildren, Brooke and Brandi Rapcan, Chrystal Nero, and Jacob Masters; and two sisters, Bev (Kevin) Mahr and Sandy (Doug) Beguin. She is also survived by many other relatives, nieces, and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John L. Rapcan, Jr.; daughter-in-law Christy Rapcan; and her parents.

Please join us in celebrating her life on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL. Visitation is from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. followed by a brief service at 6:00 p.m.
