Helen Brozovich passed away on May 24, 2024 at the age of 88 at Lightways Hospice of Joliet.
Helen is survived by her loving sons, Ron (Sandy Gregorash) Brozovich, and Bob (Kris) Brozovich. Her grandchildren, Michael and Mathew Brozovich. Former daughter-in-law, Nadia Brozovich. Grandchildren, Eric and Briana Brozovich. Her brother, Walter (Kathy) Toton. Her special niece, Debbie (David) Peterson. Nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Anton (Tony) Brozovich (2000). Her son Brian Brozovich (2017). Her sister, Ann (1990) (Edward Shain). Her parents, Walter (1970) and Stefanie (1967) Toton.
Helen was born and raised on the east side of Joliet. She belonged to St. Thaddeus (Polish) Church and married Tony Brozovich on February 12, 1955. They lived with her parents on Herkimer Street (upstairs) and raised two sons there until 1963 when Tony built their home on Root Street in Crest Hill. They were the first home in the new neighborhood and the house was hand constructed with no electricity used. Their third son was born at that time.
Helen worked at Gerlach Barklow/Rustcraft while she was single and W.T. Grant until they started their family and she became a stay-at-home wife and mother. She was active in her sons’ lives and volunteered at many school events. She loved spending time with family, especially watching and playing with her grandchildren. Helen had many hobbies, she was a voracious reader of books, loved playing Scrabble, doing crossword puzzles, building jigsaw puzzles, watching and feeding birds, gardening, and flowers and late in life a supporter of the Chicago Bears. Her springtime yard was a bevy of color with all her perennials rising from the ground. She loved the color purple and almost everything was purple .
In the summer and autumn, she would pick fruit from her many varieties of fruit trees in her yard and vegetables from her garden.
She will be dearly missed by all of those who were blessed to know her.
Funeral services for Helen Brozovich will be held Thursday, May 30, 2024 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet, where visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until services begin at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Mary Nativity Cemetery.
