Obituary of Karen M. Allbert
Karen M. Allbert, age 81, of Joliet, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Pavilion of Ottawa, with her loving family by her side.
Born February 19, 1943, in Joliet, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Bertha (Planinsek) Hofer, and was a graduate of St. Francis Academy.
Karen attended the Joliet School of Beauty Culture and enjoyed doing hair for several years prior to embarking on a long and rewarding career as a Fingerprint Technician for the Illinois State Police Crime Lab, retiring after nearly 30 years of service. In her retirement, she continued to apply her craft for an additional 10 years in identifying fingerprints for the Will County Sheriff’s Department.
A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, she led a quiet life made richer by her many pets, especially her beloved dog, Rio.
Surviving are her two beloved sons, Jason R. Allbert and Monty (Jeanette) Allbert; two adoring grandsons, Trevor and Austin Allbert; her siblings, Judy (Duane) Gronwold, Lynn (Greg) Kurtyak, Rick (Sue) Hofer and Tori Boyle; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Karen Allbert will be held Friday, May 31, 2024, from 10:00 a.m., until the time of funeral services at 12:00 p.m., Noon, at the Fred D. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 at Deerpath Drive, Morris. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Joliet.
