Obituary of Guillermo G. Lara, Jr.

Guillermo G. Lara, Jr.
“Billy”

Guillermo G. Lara, Jr. passed away at the age of 53, on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at RML Specialty Hospital in Hinsdale, IL with family by his side.  Billy and his infectious smile were born on March 21, 1971, the son of Guillermo G, Sr. and Velia (nee Rodriguez) Lara. He was born and raised in Joliet.  Billy was a graduate of Joliet Central High School where he participated in the Marching Band and Symphonic Band, playing the trumpet.  He also participated in Cross Country throughout his life.  He received his Bachelors and Masters Degree from DeVry University and was currently working with Amazon as an area manager and former Fed Ex employee.

Billy, with tremendous strength and courage, succumbed to a 14 year battle with a form of lung cancer. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at family gatherings, wrestling events (avid watcher) and was a White Sox fan and loved the Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan (and shoes).  He enjoyed dancing and going to different concerts and events, loved listening to House Music, and had an eclectic taste in music. He will be missed dearly and will be forever in our hearts.

Billy is survived by his mother, Velia M. Lara; his sisters, Blanca Lara and Melissa Lara; his nephew, Maxwell Lara; future ex wife Sophia Lara; his best friends Mario, Sam, Lorenzo and Keith; and his fur baby, “Fifi St James”.

He is preceded by his father, Guillermo G. Lara, Sr. (6/3/24); grandparents, Willie and Celia Guajardo and Juan and Rosa Garcia; aunts, Clara Guajardo and Sara Rodriguez; his uncle Ray and Antonio Guajardo; and cousin, Alex Mares.
