Mary Frances Gannon 
(nee McCanna)

Mary Frances “Sis” Gannon, age 88, of Joliet, Illinois passed away late Thursday evening, June 6, 2024 in Los Angeles, California.  Mary Fran was born October 10, 1935 to the late Joseph and Mary (nee Kochevar) McCanna in Joliet where she was raised and educated.  She was a graduate of St. Francis Academy (JCA) and retired from the Will County Clerk's office after many years of dedicated service.

Mary Fran was dedicated to her faith and was a longtime parishioner at the Cathedral of St. Raymond, where she also attended grade school, and was blessed to have been married there.  

From a young age, Mary Fran had a love for dance. It continued into adulthood and she shared that passion by teaching dance to many area youths for over 30 years.  

Mary Fran is survived by her son, Terry (Lisa) Gannon; her grandchildren, Maddie Gannon and Jake Gannon; her brother, William (the late Kathleen) McCanna; as well as many nieces, nephews; and a large extended family of which she was the centerpiece. 

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Gannon (2003); twin brothers, Leonard (Fran) and Joseph, Jr. (Marilyn) McCanna; and her sister, Rose (John) Singletary; and brother-in -law, Edward “Tiger” Kirincich.

Visitation for Mary Frances Gannon will be held on Thursday June 20, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL. 

Funeral services will begin at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024, and will process to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus, 604 N. Raynor Avenue, Joliet, where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m.  Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville.
