Obituary of Helen M Leggero

Helen M. Leggero, nee Kimackage 92, of Joliet, passed away peacefully, Friday, June 21, 2024 at Lightways Hospice with her family by her side.

Born October 1, 1931, in Joliet, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Hresko) Kimack.  She attended Providence High School for one year, and then continued her education at Joliet Township High School.

She married the love of her life, Joseph Eugene Leggero, Jr., on April 12, 1952 at St. Isadore Church in Los Alamito, CA.  He preceded her in death in 1994, along with her son, Anthony J. “Tony” Leggero in 2011, and her brother, Peter Kimack.

Helen most enjoyed being a homemaker and being involved in her husband's activities, but also worked for the former David Balch, Kreske’s and Sears.  

She was a active member of the Church of St. Anthony and the Charismatic Movement in Joliet.  She was also a member of the Blue Army, Farm Bureau, and Laraway School PTA.

Surviving are her loving son, Joseph E. (Patty) Leggero, III; one grandson, Adam (Kelly) Leggero; two great-grandsons, Ryan and Jonathan; one step-granddaughter, Andrea Nastepniak; and close friends, Mary and Richard Workman.

Visitation for Helen will be held Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet.  Funeral services will be Friday, June 28, 2024, at 9:00 a.m., from the funeral home to the Church of St. Anthony for Mass at 10:00 a.m.  Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Morning Star Mission, or in the form of Masses would be appreciated.
