Gary was born on July 27, 1950 in Normal, IL to Dale and Mary (Powell) Hinthorn.  He was a graduate of Gibson City High School with the class of 1968, and every summer he would attend the alumni gathering in Gibson City, meeting up with former members of his class.  Gary went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University in 1974. Every morning Gary would begin his day by joining his friends at the local McDonalds for coffee.  He was an avid White Sox fan and also liked to watch the Chicago Bears and Bulls.  Gary had a great sense of humor and always had a story to tell.  He loved spending time with his family. He was always very involved in his children’s lives, coaching their soccer, softball, and basketball teams. His grandchildren also brought him great joy, and he rarely missed attending their activities.
