Obituary of Michael J. Mendoza, Jr.

Michael J. Mendoza, Jr.

Michael J. Mendoza, Jr., passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 11, 2024, while visiting family in Texas.  Michael was born in Berwyn, IL, on March 22, 1972.  He grew up in Chicago and was a graduate of Hubbard High School.  Mike retired in 2022 from the Chicago Transit Authority after 26 dedicated years.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Janie (nee Galvan); son, Louie Mendoza; daughter, Gianna Mendoza; and his father, Michael J. Mendoza, Sr.

He is preceded by his grandparents, Arnold and Phyllis Mendoza; his uncle Pete Mendoza; and his cousin, John Clark.

Mike was a social man who never met a stranger.  He had a big personality paired with the ability to make everyone he knew feel like family.  He enjoyed guiding and watching Gianna bowl, being out on his Harley Davidson, sitting by the water with a fishing pole in his hand, walking around a car show, or cheering on the Chicago Cubs or Bears.  Above all else, Mike loved spending time with his family and friends.
