Obituary of Veronica Marie Mahalik

Veronica Marie Mahalik, age 79, of Minooka, formerly of Joliet, passed away on, Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center with her loving family by her side. She was born on July 29, 1944 in Joliet, the daughter of Roman and Mary (Gonda) Kurator.  Veronica was a graduate of St. Francis Academy.

Veronica retired from the Will County Courthouse after many years of dedicated service. She was a woman of strong Catholic faith.  In the spring and summer she loved tending to her flowers around her home. In the winter she loved her snowmen collection.  She enjoyed watching a good western movie and game shows. Veronica loved being a grandma, visiting family and friends, and going on car rides with her husband. Her favorite pastimes included ceramic classes, collecting Hallmark ornaments, and Precious Moments.

Veronica is survived by her loving husband of 60 years Lawrence; her children, Justine (Richard) Fishbeck, Gary Mahalik, Jennifer (Scott) Coyne, and Lauren Mahalik (Alex Romero-Mendez); grandchildren, Alex Fishbeck, Emily Fishbeck (Trevor Husch), Madison Coyne (David Liljehorn), Olivia Coyne, Delaney Coyne; sister, Loretta (Tom) Koenig; and several in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Anna Mae Venske, and Dorothy Matay; brother, Raymond Kurator; baby brother Joseph Kurator; and father-in-law and mother-in-law Louis and Sophia Mahalik.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.

Due to her wishes cremation rites will have been accorded.

Memorial visitation for Veronica Marie Mahalik will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church, 706 N. Broadway, Joliet, starting at 9:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 a.m.
