Obituary of Davon Taylor Simpson

Davon Taylor Simpson

Davon Taylor Simpson, passed away at his home in Florida on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at the age of 27, after fighting a courageous battle against depression and addiction.  Davon was born in Joliet, IL, on September 1, 1996, the son of Wendy Karkut and Aaron Simpson.  He grew up in Minooka and was a graduate of Minooka Community High School. Davon was currently working as a welder with MWI Pump Repairs.

As a child, Davon enjoyed skateboarding and was a natural athlete, as he grew up he enjoyed cooking and being outdoors. Despite his battle with depression, Davon’s beautiful smile lit up every room he entered. His positive attitude provided strength to those around him and the love he had for his mother and family is immeasurable and will leave a void. Davon always looked forward to becoming a father and wanted nothing more than to show his son all the love he had to offer. He wanted to be there to teach Roman all the things he taught himself. The strength Davon had was not just physical; he fought his internal struggles with everything he had. Without even knowing it, the affect he made on the lives of many, will forever be impacted by the respect, love, and generosity he showed to everyone in his life. Davon’s fight doesn’t have to end here, take the love and kindness he showed others to use as a guide to continue fighting your own battles. Davon would want to see you succeed.

Davon is survived by his son, Roman Scott Kretzer; his mother, Wendy (Hassan Moukahel) Karkut; his sister, Angel Simpson; his father, Aaron Simpson; nephew, Alexander, Esparza; maternal grandmother, Susan Parkins; paternal grandmother, Cynthia Mines; aunt, Andrea Karkut; uncles, John and Jason Williams; and his cousins, Mya and Mason Jackson, Marlianna and Mirielle Stephens, and Jordan Williams.
