Eugene F. Ivnik
Age 88. Left his loving family on May 10, 2009. Born February 1, 1921 in Joliet, he was a lifetime resident. A WWII U.S. Army Veteran, he was the recipient of the Purple Heart. Gene enjoyed his life to the fullest. He was a member of the Joliet Elks Lodge #296, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #300, and the Rivals Club. He was a retired accountant from the Joliet Herald News.
Survived by his daughter, Patricia (Chuck) Olson; his son, Eugene (Mary Kaye) Ivnik, Jr.; six grandchildren, Wayne (Lori) Gregory, Dorothy (Len Willard) Hedges, Geoff (Margaret) Ivnik, Eryn Ivnik, Alex (Deb) Ivnik and Eileen (John) Einsfeld; 11 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; his loving friend and companion, ElsieMae "Toots" Hanna; and one brother, Melvin (Betty) Ivnik.
Preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Dorothy (nee Kubinski); parents, Frank and Anne Ivnik.
All friends and relatives are invited to celebrate Gene's life on Friday, May 15, 2009 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 600 Brookforest Avenue, Shorewood, where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Elks National Foundation would be appreciated. Arrangements by:
