Col Sharon Ann Andrews

 

Sharon Ann Andrews passed away peacefully at her home in Plainfield, at the age of 71, on Sunday, September 29, 2024.  Sharon was born in Chicago, IL, on April 14, 1953, the daughter of the late John and Josephine (Kulig) Musial. She grew up in Chicago and was a graduate of St. Mary High School and earned her Bachelor of Science Nursing Degree from the University of Illinois.  

 

Sharon proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1989 until 2010, earning the Meritorious Service Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Air Medal, Aerial Achievement Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Valor Device, Combat Readiness Medal with 2 oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal with 1 service star, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 1 service star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service with 1 oak leaf cluster, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with 2 ‘M’ Devices with 1 hourglass device, Air Force Training Ribbon, Kuwait Liberation Medal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait Liberation Medal Government of Kuwait, and participated in Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. When she was honorably discharged, Sharon held the rank of Colonel.

 

Sharon is survived by her sons, Brian (Blair) Andrews, Joseph (Becca) Andrews, and Dan (Amy) Andrews; grandchildren, Nate, Emery, Cooper, Clara, Jason, and Jeremy; and siblings, Mike Musial, Stan Musial, and Mary (Joe) Parra.  Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

 

She is preceded by her wife, Elaine Sue Houser (2021); her parents; brother, John Musial; and her sister, Kathy Lamendola

 

A Memorial Mass for Col Sharon Ann Andrews will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, June 16, 2025, at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 15629 Illinois Route 59, Plainfield, IL.  Interment will follow at  Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery with full military honors held under the auspices of the United States Air Force and the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squad.
