Frances L. Wenzel

 

Frances L. Wenzel, passed away at the age of 91, on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at St. Joseph Medical Center. She was born on May 19, 1933 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (nee Stefan) Wenzel. 

 

She worked for many years in the trucking industry and was a member of the Teamsters Union.  She always had a love of animals. After retirement, she was a docent at Brookfield Zoo. She also enjoyed the company of D.C. the Cat and her dogs.  She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church and loved to bake for the nuns and church members.  For a creative outlet, she made ceramic creations.

 

Francis is survived by her nephews, Santo Procenti, George J. (Mary) Wenzel, and John Wenzel: nieces, Barbara Procenti and Marie (late Jerry) Biel; and goddaughter, Mary (David) Morgan Hendren.  She was a lifetime friend of the Morgan and Coombs families.  She will be missed by many.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, George Wenzel; and sister, Lucille Procenti Stolfo.

 

Funeral Services for Frances L. Wenzel will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1711 Burry Circle, Crest Hill, IL, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m.  After Mass, friends and family will meet at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary Cemetery, Evergreen Park, IL for committal services.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to Brookfield Zoo or to St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1711 Burry Circle, Crest Hill, IL 60403.
