Obituary of Henry C. Gruber
Henry C. Gruber, age 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at his home in Morris surrounded by his loving family. Henry was born in Germany on April 13, 1929, to the late Heinrich and Margaret Gruber. He moved to the United States when he was 26 years old, and two years later, he married Roselyne Bromeland, and the two just recently celebrated their 67th anniversary. They settled down in Plattville, IL to raise their four children. At the age of 62, Henry retired after 25 years of work at Caterpillar. After retirement, he and Rose enjoyed several years traveling the country in their RV and spending time with their children and grandchildren. After a few years, he and Roselyne purchased and managed their own campground in Florida for many years before returning full-time to Illinois to live with their daughters.
Henry is survived by his loving wife, Roselyne; his children, Karen (Rodney) McKanna, Henry (Angela) Gruber, Christine (Jack) DiGuido, and Belinda (the late Keith Millard) Kurtz; his grandchildren, David McKanna, Kathryn (Ryan) Hendrickson, William Gruber, Nicole (Tom) Washak, Elyse (Bryce) Southcombe, Matthew Kurtz, Lydia Kurtz, and Emma Kurtz; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Walter Gruber; and sister Lydia Hubner.
Visitation for Henry C. Gruber will be this Saturday, November 2, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Plattville United Methodist Church, 13025 Church Rd., Yorkville. There will be a short service following the visitation and a luncheon for those who wish to attend.
