Obituary of Burneva Loree Carr, II
Burneva Loree Carr, II, (Loree to her family), peacefully returned to the Lord on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at her home in Joliet. Burneva was born in Chicago on April 14, 1968, to Burneva McCullum and the late John B. Carr. She was the oldest grandchild of Burnham and Lenora Jordan and brought immense joy to the family when she was born. Even though she grew up with more than her share of health issues, Burneva was a happy and engaging child and always the center of attention. She was a product of the eighties and in her younger days loved the music of Duran Duran and Boy George. She loved to write letters, babysit, and care for her animals (dogs, cats, and birds).
Burneva never let her health challenges ruin her love for life, God, and her family. She always fought the good fight. She was baptized at an early age at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Joliet, and she reaffirmed her faith again in her 20s. She always had her Bible with her and took great joy in reading it and sharing its teachings with everyone. God’s word gave her strength to face her daily health challenges. Burneva loved music, loved to dance, always had a smile on her face, and put a smile on other's faces, even in the most difficult of times. She especially enjoyed her time with the friends she made at the Autumn Country Club.
Burneva is survived by her mother, Burneva McCullum; her sister, Shelita Jordan; special aunt, Lena Grant; two half-sisters, three nieces and two nephews and numerous other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her father, John B. Carr; her maternal grandparents, Burnham and Lenora Jordan; and paternal grandparents, John Willie and Lillie Carr, one half-sister, Leflorence Dula and one nephew, Anthony D. Amos.
All friends and relatives are invited to celebrate Burneva's life on Thursday, November 7, 2024, starting at 11:00 a.m. and concluding with prayers at 1:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black (at Essington) Rd., Joliet. Officiating will be Pastor Lonnie Posley of New Canaanland Christian Church, Joliet, IL. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Joliet, IL.
