My condolences on your loss. John was the principal architect of the expansion and renovation of the City of Joliet during his administration. John’s incredible outside the box thinking led to the expansion of the City in all directions. John had brilliant mind and his flair for the imaginative was extremely beneficial. He had an incredible work ethic, passion, loyalty and dedication to his craft. I probably was his foe more than any other person and absolutely respected John and loved to battle with him over my clients’ requests. It is a shame that John suffered in the end of his life but I will always remember John with extreme fondness.

Our John (his Mother, Irene, when speaking of John would always refer to him as "our John") was the best of the best. An easy smile and a great laugh. We spent may hours on river trips to LaCrosse. John never complained about our autumnal outings as he packed his vehicle with everything Kate and I purchased. He always found room for one more item. So fun to be with him and Kate. A great loss for sure.
He was so proud of his beautiful home, Kate and Nick.
Love, Wayne and Janny

I knew “Mez” since 1st grade until his sudden passing. One of my best friends in life, like a real brother. He was a sure 1st Round pick in my circle of life friends. His beloved wife Kate and son Nick were his pride and joy in life.
The city of Joliet development and success was his entire career passion. It is very difficult to find other men whom possessed his intelligence, winning personality and love of his family and life itself. WE were forever m friends for 68 years!
Fid. (As Mez always called me)

I served as Village Manager in Romeoville during part of John’s tenure as City Manager in Joliet. He was always straightforward in his communications with me. He was a good Will County neighbor. John gave me some good advice about water and sewer utilities that served me well over the years. John will be missed. Prayers and condolences to the Mezera family.
