Obituary of David Michael Fonza
David Michael Fonza, 65, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 4, 2024, at his home in Morris, IL. Born on January 31, 1959, in Mount Holly, NJ, he was the son of Donald Richard and Dorothy (nee Dombroski) Fonza.
David had a passion for mechanics, whether fixing appliances, restoring cars or working on his cherished blue Mustang. His love for tinkering with things and his caring nature led him to start his own business as a handyman, where he was known for his ability to fix just about anything. David had a kind heart and was always willing to help those in need, whether it was family, friends, or strangers.
David had a unique enthusiasm for karaoke and fishing and was also known for pulling pranks, often keeping those around him on their toes with his humor.
One of his children’s favorite memories was making homemade ice cream with him in the winter. David would take them outside, collect snow, and mix in vanilla, sugar, and cream to create the perfect treat. A memory his son recalls is when a tornado struck while they were fishing by the river. Despite the chaos, David helped reel in the largest carp his son had ever caught!
David is survived by his mother, Dorothy M. Fonza; one daughter; one son; three siblings; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Richard Fonza.
Memorials may be made to either a charity for victims of violent crimes or traumatic brain injuries of your choice. A private memorial gathering was held, and cremation rites have been accorded.
