Leslie Schultz

Obituary of Leslie Willard Schultz

Leslie W. Schultz, age 83, of Morris and formerly Peotone, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, December 9, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. Leslie was born in Joliet, IL, on July 23, 1941, to the late Willard M. and Gena M. (Breen) Schultz. He graduated from Greer Technical Institute of Wilmington and worked at International Harvester's R&D Department for 11 years. He then spent over 25 years at Meyer Material Company in Channahon before his retirement.  On November 20, 1982, Les married Janice Schluntz. The two most recently celebrated 42 years of marriage. Together, they enjoyed RVing to many different destinations, but they particularly enjoyed the time they spent at Mississippi Palisades State Park, Door County, and Tennessee. In the early 1980s, Les raced a stock car at Grundy County Fairgrounds. He also followed NASCAR and the Bears. But he truly enjoyed college football, especially Notre Dame. When relaxing, he watched old westerns on TV or went outside to enjoy a good cigar.

Les is survived by his loving wife, Janice Schultz (nee Schluntz) of Morris; his son, Paul (Rena) Schultz; his daughter, Sandra (Dan) Gonda; his grandchildren, Tabitha (Joshua) Buyert, Jacob Schultz, Julie Schultz, and Trisha Schultz; his great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Connor Buyert; his sister-in-law, Judith Schluntz; his sisters, JoAnn (Mike) Facchina, Cheryl Draper, and Karen (Tony) Cantone; his brothers, Gary Schultz and  Kevin (Carol) Schultz; his aunt, Geraldine Schultz and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Brian Schultz; his brother, John “Jack” Schultz; sisters-in-law, Barbara Schultz and Martha Jo Schultz; and brothers-in-law, John “Jerry” Schluntz, Roger Schluntz, and Jack Draper.

All friends and relatives are invited to join together to celebrate Les's life on Saturday, December 14, 2024, from 10 a.m. until funeral services at 12 p.m. at the Fred C.
