Michael James Holby

Age 74, of Crest Hill, Illinois, passed from this life on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. He was born August 10, 1950 to the late Lillian (Johnson) and John Holby in Evanston, Illinois where he was raised and educated, a graduate of Evanston High School. Mike served his Country proudly as a US Navy Veteran.

He is survived by his son, Dustin (Jennifer) Holby; daughter, Jenna Holby (Gerardo Herrera); grandsons, Jackson Holby and Noah Herrera; wife, Pamela Holby; sister, Karen (the late Gerald) Fornell; brother, John Holby (Sam Nguyen). Many nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Judith Princell, Barbra Toner, and Merry Myers.

Mike, a carpenter by trade, retired after many years of dedicated service. His hobbies included riding his bike, watching westerns, listening to his music, and interacting with almost anyone who crossed his path, many becoming friends. He truly enjoyed his being an awesome “pay pay” to his grandsons.

Visitation for Mike will be held Thursday, December 26, 2024 from 4-7 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet. A service of remembrance will conclude the evening beginning at 7 p.m.
