Obituary of Marisela Noriega
Marisela Noriega, age 53, of Plainfield, passed away Friday, December 27, 2024, at home, surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous battle with ALS.
Born April 20, 1971, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, she was one of eleven children born to David and Amparo (Altamirano) Alencastro. She came to the United States with her family in 1980, and they made their home in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago. Following her marriage, she and her husband moved to Plainfield.
Marisela was a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Her affection for her husband, Gabriel, was apparent by her huge smile whenever she saw him. Her life revolved around family and her large family was a source of great pride. She cherished the opportunity to be the primary caregiver during her mother’s final illness, and appreciated the loving care her own daughter, Gabriela, provided her during her years suffering from ALS, as well as the love extended by her entire family.
Besides her husband and children, music, food, time spent with family and friends, cookouts, and caring for the family pets were some of the parts of her life she treasured the most. She was very protective of her children, and they will miss her loving care and attention, and the time they were able to spend with her every day. Despite her extended family being very large, the fact they all got along so well and loved each other so much was a testament to her endearing personality. She will be sadly missed, no one will ever take her place, and she will always be remembered in our prayers.
Surviving are her beloved husband of 25 years, Gabriel Noriega; her two adoring children, Gabriela and Omar Noriega; her loving mother, Amparo; nine dear sisters and brothers, Leticia, Veronica, Martha, Jose D., Miguel, Mario, Luis, Javier, and Hermilo; her husband’s brother, Ivan; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Alejandra; her father, David; and a brother, David.
