Obituary of Richard F. Landrey

Richard F. Landrey, age 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Ascension Villa Franciscan in Joliet. Richard was born in Joliet on May 29, 1934, to the late Merle and Leona Landrey.  He served his country honorably as a member of the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He retired with over 30 years of service from Reynolds Metal in Joliet. On May 27, 1972, Richard married Verna Mandella, and the two most recently celebrated 52 years of marriage. When not at work, or taking care of his family, Richard enjoyed motorcycle riding.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Verna; his children, Kathleen T. (Steve) Bruno, Richard F. (Sandy) Landrey, Jr., Judy Landrey, Rami (Michael) Wells, and Jack E. (Tina) Landrey; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; his brothers, Wayne (Bev) Landrey and Roland (Judy) Landrey; and sister-in-law Beverly Coveny.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Jean Hoy Landrey; son, George Eugene Landrey; his parents; brothers, Leonard, Merle, Armell, and Charles Landrey; and sister, Marcella Nielsen.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and all family and friends are invited to celebrate Richard’s life at Queen of Apostles Catholic Church (formerly St. Paul), 18 Woodlawn Ave, Joliet, where a Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Following Mass, Richard will be taken for his last ride to his final place of rest, Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, where he will receive full military honors under the auspices of the United States Air Force.
