Angel Tollinchi
Angel Tollinchi, passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on Friday, December 27 ,2024, at his home in Joliet, surrounded by the love of his family. Angel was born on January 2, 1940, the son of the late Dolores Tollinchi. He was raised by his mother and grandmother in Castañer, Puerto Rico until moving to Chicago at the age of 15 in June of 1955.
Angel is survived by his two daughters, Shirley Tollinchi and Lola (George)Merikas; grandchildren, Jacqui (Will) Dunn, Jennifer (Lucas) Neuhaus, Axel Castellanos Jr, Erik Eisner, Samantha (Jonathan) Castro, Steven Grady, Angelo (Tiffany) Grady, Anna Merikas, and Gus Merikas; eight great-grandchildren, William, Santino, Ethan, Gisele, Jenaya, Leo, Luna, and Jonathan Jr.; one brother, Rafi Tollinchi and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Celia; his son Angelo; his mother Dolores and brother, Ismael Tollinchi.
Angel loved the outdoors and spending time in his garden. He appreciated a manicured lawn and the advent of the leaf blower. His favorite pastime was sitting in his recliner watching the squirrels and birds. He also will be remembered as a loving Dad and Papa who thoroughly enjoyed watching his Chicago Cubs.
Visitation for Angel Tollinchi will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL. A service of remembrance will begin Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
The family has requested to livestream the services of their loved one on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. Please click on this link (https://youtube.com/live/AmJ_u8jLqt0?feature=share) and follow the instructions to show your support for them at a time when you cannot be physically present, but your thoughts, prayers, and connection are.
As it was his request, cremation rites will be accorded following services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
