Gloria M. McCollum, passed away at the age of 90, on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at her home in Minooka surrounded by the love of her family. Gloria was born on December 19, 1934, the daughter of the late Thomas and Gloria (nee Erickson) Jennings. She grew up in the south suburbs of Chicago and graduated from Linblom High School.
Gloria was a woman with strong faith who led by example. She always put the needs of her family in front of her own and loved taking trips with her children, making memories wherever they went. Gloria enjoyed testing her fate at the casino’s playing the slot machines.
Gloria is survived by three children, Ray McCollum, Charlene (Diane) McCollum, and Laura (Michael) Pochordo; seven grandchildren, Ray “RJ” (Jessica) McCollum, Jr., Greg (Lindsey) McCollum, Matthew McCollum, Delaney Hoffman, Kyle McCollum, Carter Hoffman and Tyler Pochordo; seven great-grandchildren, Emma, Ava, Jack, Cullen, Madeline, Charlie, and Landon; brother, Lenny (Andrea Rose) Jennings; two daughters-in-law, Patti McCollum and Marian McCollum; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. McCollum; a son, John McCollum; her parents; and one sister, Ellen Monaco
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. As it was her request, cremation rites have been accorded.
