Obituary of Joseph A. Lukas, Sr.
Joseph A. Lukas, Sr., age 47, of Marseilles, Illinois and formerly Joliet, passed suddenly, while at work, early Thursday morning, January 2, 2025. Joe was born on May 23, 1977, to Consuelo Escabalzeta and the late Victor Lukas in Joliet where he was raised, educated, and spent most of his life until he moved to Marseilles a few years ago.
Joe was a forklift operator for the majority of his career. He recently worked at Circle K, where he interacted with everyone as he had throughout his life. No matter where Joe went, it was unusual that he didn’t know someone. He was a people person and a family man who coached his kid’s softball and baseball teams and enjoyed doing anything that was somewhat competitive, like darts or bags, but it was the party and the people that Joe truly enjoyed.
Joe is survived by his mother, Consuelo “Connie” Escabalzeta; his wife, Melissa (nee Liccardi) Lukas; children, Joseph Lukas, Jr., Sarina Lukas, and Arthur Lukas; grandchildren, Lilliana Lukas, and Genevieve and Sakari Puentes; his siblings, his twin, Jonathan “Jon” (Sonjia) Lukas, Matthew “Matt” (Vanessa) Lukas, and Delvina “Dee” Lukas; and half-brothers, Victor (Monica) and Johnny Jo Lukas. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive.
He is preceded in death by his father, Victor.
We will remember him in the same vain this spring when we have a celebration of his life. Invitations will be forthcoming when details are finalized closer to May.
As it was Joe’s wish cremation rites have been accorded.
