Linda Micou

Linda S. Micou passed away peacefully, at the age of 74, surrounded by her loving family on January 4, 2025. Linda was born on February 28, 1950, the daughter of the late Thomas and Teresa (nee Kelly) Hammons, Sr. She was a native of Erie, Pa, and grew up on various Air Force bases in North Dakota, California, Michigan, and Japan. Linda graduated from Erie Academy High School, class of 1968. She was an active tennis player who loved to dance, draw, and read endless novels. In 1979, she met her soul mate, Raymond Lee, and shortly after, they married on September 6, 1980. She was a dedicated wife, mother and friend to all who crossed her path. Her professional journey included working for over a decade as an Executive Administrative Assistant at Personal Products in Wilmington, IL, where she also led fitness classes for her female colleagues. In 1984, Linda embraced a new career with Interstate Warehouse in Joliet, IL, where she worked until her retirement in 2007.

A woman of deep faith, Linda was a devoted Catholic who dedicated herself to serving her church and community. She was an active member of the Social Committee for 12 years, a Minister of Care, Vice-President of the Council of Catholic Women (CCW), and an organizer of food drives for the elderly. She was also elected to the Nominating Committee for the East Will Deanery, always leading with God’s guidance to serve with love and kindness in her work for others. Linda was a radiant light of faith, wisdom, and love, known for her joyful smile and her unwavering commitment to her family. She adored her grandchildren and found joy in every moment spent with her loved ones. To Linda, family was everything and she lived her life with a heart full of class, grace and gratitude. Linda's life was a testament to devotion, faith and selflessness. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her beautiful spirit.

 

Linda is survived by her loving children, son, Michel (Alicia) Myers and daughter, Courtney Micou; stepdaughter, DeShandra (Albert) Dowling; grandchildren, Jonathan, Vanessa, Albert, Reece, Jayce, and Laila; her brothers, Thomas “Sonny” (Beverly) Hammons II, Kevin Hammons, James Patrick Hammons, and David (Angela) Hammons; and her sister, Denise (Brent) Bacchas. She is also survived by her nieces, Andrea (Lawrence) Owens, Jasmine, Danielle; and her nephews, Todd (Mandi) Dehaas and James (Esperanza) Hammons Jr. Thomas (Emma) Hammons III.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Raymond Lee Micou.

A visitation for Linda Micou will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m. As it was her request, cremation rites will be accorded following services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to American Cancer Society in honor of her late husband.
