Evelyn Darlene Hanneken
Evelyn Darlene Hanneken passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, shortly after celebrating her 100th birthday. Evelyn was the oldest of three daughters born to the late Jesse and Beatrice Hicks. She grew up in Ramsey, IL, and in her younger days, she was very proud of her work as a school teacher. On August 16, 1947, she married Raymond Hanneken, and the two celebrated 34 years of marriage before his passing in 1982. After marrying, Evelyn gave up teaching, and began her most important career, as a loving and caring mother to her five daughters, and eventually was promoted to grandmother and great-grandmother.
Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Chuck) Bredemus, Patricia (Tom) McEachron, Jeanette (Mark) Bidlake, Monica (Chris Roerig) Polancic, and Ramona (Patrick) Casey; her 10 grandchildren, Jessica (Mike) Taylor, Christine (David) Dearth, Chris (Naomi) McEachron, Daniel (Helen) McEachron, Jeffrey Weinhold, Erin Weinhold, Allyn Polancic, Jaclyn (Ryan) Sheahen, Matt Casey, and Andrew Casey; and six great-grandchildren, Magdalena and Nathan Dearth, Benjamin Ewing, Jayden and Sasha McEachron, and Sloane Sheahen.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Hanneken; her parents; and her two sisters.
All friends and relatives are invited to celebrate Evelyn’s life on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black (at Essington) Rd., Joliet, from 8:00 a.m. until the time of services at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville.
