Kathleen Skoda

Obituary of Kathleen Sue Skoda

Kathleen Sue “Kathy” Skoda, age 77, of Channahon, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born January 30, 1947 in Chicago, she was the daughter of the late John and Josephine (Moek) Stance and was a graduate of St. Leo Grade School and Mercy High School with the Class of 1965.  In 1975, she and her husband moved to Tinley Park  to raise their young family, and in 2020 settled into their new home in Channahon.

Kathleen enjoyed serving as the Office Manager for the Village of Tinley Park Public Works Department until her retirement.

She married the love of her life, Ronald Skoda, on February 4, 1967 and they enjoyed 57 years of marriage.

Growing up, Kathy was an avid accordion player.  She cherished raising a beautiful family with her husband, Ron.  The two created a lifetime of memories; trips from Alaska to Hawaii, raising golden retrievers, and building three homes from the ground up.  In her downtime, Kathy loved family get togethers, crochet, crafting with her girls, growing orchids, and bird watching in the backyard.

Ron survives, along with her loving children, Rhonda (Bob) Wagoner of Joliet, Dan (Renee) Skoda of Frankfort, Dennis (Karen) Skoda of Oak Lawn, and Debbie (Bill) Schejbal of Chicago; her adoring grandchildren, Becky (Mark), Katie, Sophie, Molly, Stephen (Ambria), Elisabeth (Anthony), and David; three precious great-granddaughters, Noel, Addie and Evie; her dear brother and sister, John (Pat) Stance of Manteno, and JoAnn Diorio of Bradley; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 24500 S. Navajo Drive, Channahon.  Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. and Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m.  Cremation rites will be accorded following services and interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Lightways Hospice (www.lightways.org) would be appreciated.
