Obituary of Robert Jeriha SR

Robert J. Jeriha Sr. Age 85. Passed away peacefully on Friday, March 7th with his family by his side after a brief but valiant battle with pancreatic and liver cancer. Robert was born in Joliet on November 17, 1922 and was a lifelong resident . Robert was a Veteran of the Air Force serving his country in France during WW II. He is a retired member of the Joliet Police Department after a 20 yr. long career. He was awarded Policeman of the Year in 1970 by the Joliet Exchange Club. Upon his retirement from the Department, he became a security guard at St. Joseph Hospital. He was a member of St. Mary Nativity Church and Cantigny Post #367. Robert was proceeded in death by his parents, Anton and Katarina Jeriha, three brothers, Anthony, William, and August. Also one grandson, Frederick Lingle Jr., and two great-grandchildren, Catherine Ann Brett and Nathaniel Robert Brett. Robert is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bernice (Gregorich), one brother Stanley W. Jeriha, a son Robert (Ann) Jeriha Jr., two daughters, Mary Ellen (Dave) Harris and Ann Marie (Terry) Zigrossi. Grandchildren, Monica (Jim) Brett, Deanne Jeriha, Summer (Joe) Pistorius, Kayla Zigrossi, Megan Zigrossi, great-granddaughter, Anna Pistorius and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends also survive. Bob will always be remembered for his dedication to family and friends. His loving and generous spirit will remain forever in all our hearts. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Provena Villa Franciscan (Cambridge Unit) and the wonderful people at Hospice for their loving and compassionate care. Funeral Services for Robert J. Jeriha Sr. will be Tuesday March 11, 2008 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church for a mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.. Memorials in Bob's memory may be made to St. Mary Nativity or the Joliet Area Community Hospice. Entombment Resurrection Mausoleum. Visitation Monday 2-8 p.m. at: Fred C.
