Obituary of Kenneth Johnson

Johnson, Kenneth D. Age 65. After overcoming many obstacles, Ken lost his two and a half year battle with cancer, Friday, August 5, 2011. He was a modest man who loved life. Ken enjoyed visiting friends and family in his '65 Mustang convertible and giving a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Surviving are his wife Linda nee Lynn (Humphrey) Johnson; Two daughters, Julie Vergel and Kristine (Keith) Borgra; One son Kenneth D. Johnson, Jr. Four step-sons, Perry (Roberta), Bob (Kristin), Brian (Angie) and Gary (Andrea) Humphrey. Four grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren. Also survived by three sisters, Genevieve (Robert) Buell, Elizabeth Johnson and Arlene (Dale) Patterson; three brothers, Richard (Carol), Eugene (Marge) and Dwight Johnson. The mother of his children, Cindy Johnson and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his infant daughter, Tracy; parents Elmer and Violet (nee Nelson) Johnson; one sister Marilyn Hammond and three brothers, Howard, Gordon and Leroy Johnson; one nephew, Paul Hammond, Jr. Ken worked hard his entire life, primarily as a roofer and in the disposal industry. The Johnson family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Schilder, his staff, and Joliet Area Community Hospice for their care and compassion. Funeral services for Kenneth Johnson will be held Tuesday evening, August 9, 2011, 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place at a later date.
