Lorraine E. Johnson
(nee Kinsley)
Age 85. Passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center. Born April 25, 1923 in Joliet, she was a long-time resident of Shorewood since 1950. A graduate of Joliet Township High School Class of 1940 and Joliet Junior College, she worked as a medical technician at the Joliet Arsenal following WWII where she first met her husband, Gordon.
Survived by her devoted son, Gordon "Mick" (Lillian) Johnson Jr; precious granddaughter Amanda Johnson; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Mary Lou Cookas.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gordon R. Johnson (2004), her daughter, Lynda Elias; parents, John and Cecelia (nee Korst) Kinsley; and one sister Gwendolyn Richardson.
Lorraine was a caring, loving and generous person who loved her family and adored her granddaughter. She was a member of the Church of St. Jude, and a former member of the Cathedral of St. Raymond. An avid sports fan who loved all sports, she was especially devoted to her Chicago Cubs.
Funeral services for Lorraine E. Johnson will be Monday, August 18, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel with Deacon Raymond Clark directing. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials in her name to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated. Visitation Sunday, 2-6 p.m. at:
