James Jurkas
Age 82. Passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Northwestern University Medical Center in Chicago surrounded by his loving family. A U. S. Navy Veteran He was an owner of United Explosives and Pipeline Management. A 40 year member of the Operating Engineers Local 150. A member of Cantigny Post VFW 367 and American Legion Post 1080. His greatest loves in life was spending time with his family, hunting and woodworking.
Preceded by his father Anton Jurkas and his mother Mary (William) Rasmussen; one brother Robert Jaris and his grandson Tony Jurkas.
Survived by his wife of 61 years Christine (nee Turk), his loving children Tony (Laurie) Jurkas, Sandy (Dave) Maxwell, Randy (LeAnn) Jurkas, Lori (Don) Shanholtzer, Dennis (Anne) Jurkas, and Douglas Jurkas; his grandchildren Michael, Sarah (fiance Jason), Casey, Ashley, Julia, James, Rachel, Allison, Jonathon, Nicholas, and Samantha; one great grandchild Amelia. One sister Adelyn Kwasigroch, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for James Jurkas will be Wednesday May 4, 2011 at the funeral home chapel at 10 a.m. Fr. Richard Ross officiating. As it was James's request cremation rites will be accorded following his visitation prior to funeral services. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery where full military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the United States Navy. Visitation Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at:
