Obituary of Josephine Kabat

Josephine K. Kabat (nee Pavletich) Age 89. Passed away peacefully on Monday, March 31, 2008 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, surrounded by her loving family. Josephine was born May 26, 1918 in Michigan, and was a long time Joliet area resident. Member of St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church, the Joannites Club, and was St. Mary's Woman of the Year in the 1980's. Josephine was owner and operator of Jo Kabat's Beauty Salon on Marble Street for over 40 years, and was past member of the Chicago Cosmetology Association. She was a long time Rialto Square Theater volunteer. Josephine is survived by her sister, Rita Zagar of California; children, Kim (David) Gregory of Joliet, and Greg Kabat of Seattle; five grandchildren, Daralyn R. Kabat, Kelly R. Kabat, Marshall G. Kabat, Molly M. Gregory and David Parker Gregory; numerous nieces, nephews, dear friends and devoted caregivers, Katarzyna Gorna and Amy Hugenberg also survive. Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Pauline (nee Zagar) Pavletich; seven sisters, Mary Watts, Sophie Odenwald, Julie Kelly, Georgia "Toots" Plisich, Rose Fowler, Evelyn Alexander and Elsie Decker; and one brother, Joseph Pavletich. Funeral Services for Josephine K. Kabat will be Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home chapel with Fr. Mathew Edassery officiating. Interment St. Mary Nativity Cemetery.
