Kapella, Arthur J., Sr.
Age 85, a lifetime Joliet resident, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center.
He was born in Joliet April 4, 1926 to the late Joseph and Frances (nee Hartmann) Kapala.
Beloved husband of 59 years to Dolores F. (nee Paskvan); loving father of Coleen (Mark) Ferry, Arthur Kapella, and Cathleen (Thomas) Anzelc; dearest grandfather of Lauren Ferry, Elizabeth Kapella, Matthew and Phillip Anzelc; fond brother of Shirley (late John) Max and Nancy (Ray) Mutz. Also survived by his daughter-in-law, Ann Kapella; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Beatrice (late Francis) Jackson, Delores (late Tony) DeAcetis and one brother, George (late Doris) Kapella.
Art, a U.S. Air Force Veteran, who served during WWII, was a member of American Legion Harwood Post #5, VFW Cantigny Post #367, as well as the Knights of Columbus, council #382. He was an avid fisherman, whose other hobbies included designing and making custom jewelry, computer time and discussing politics. He retired from Northern Petro Chemical and was previously employed at Blockson Chemical.
Funeral Services for Arthur J. Kapella will be Friday, October 7, 2011 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rockdale for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Visitation Thursday 4-7 p.m. with St. Joseph Holy Name Society meeting at 4:30 p.m. at:
