Janice E. Keegan
Janice E. (Merdian) Keegan, 78, of Morris and formerly of Dwight, passed away peacefully, Christmas Eve morning at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. She was born December 5, 1930 in Henry, IL. to the late Clifford and Olga (Ellefson) Merdian, she was raised in Henry and graduated from Henry High School. She received a bachelors degree in Education from Illinois State University.
She married Francis E. "Bud" Keegan, Jr. December 26, 1950 in Henry. He preceded her in death September 9, 2001.
She was the beloved mother of Christine (John) Buerkett of Kingwood, TX., Kevin Keegan of Kingwood, TX., Julie (Ken) Kaufman of Sarasota, FL., Daniel (Gail) Keegan of Marco Island, FL. and John (Maureen) Keegan of Morris. Loving grandmother of Sara, Brian and Abby Buerkett; Beth and Nick Kaufman; Kyle, Kristopher, Tyler, Matthew, Maggie, Patrick and Kate Keegan. Dear sister of the late Robert (Nancy) Merdian of Elmhurst, IL. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Mrs. Keegan was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the church funeral committee. A former member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dwight, and their Altar and Rosary Society, as well as the Dwight Country Club. She also was a loan officer with Kankakee Federal Savings and Loan in Dwight. An avid reader and White Sox fan, Jan thoroughly enjoyed golf, but her greatest passion was spending time with her grandchildren and family.
Funeral services for Janice E. Keegan will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 516 N. Jackson St. in Morris, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Dwight.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to the Morris Hospital Auxiliary would be appreciated.
