Age 59, of Elwood, passed away Friday, April 1, 2011 with her family by her side, after a brief, yet hard fought battle against cancer. She was born February 9, 1952 in Joliet to the late Beverly (nee Nelson) and William Crowley, and was a lifetime Joliet/Elwood resident.
Beloved wife of 37 years to Jerry "Boo Boo" Bandura of Elwood. Devoted mother and best friend to Jeffrey (Sarah) of Joliet and Tricia Bandura of Minooka, who would often say "we have the best mom ever." Karen was also the dearest sister of the late Jeffrey (1961), and Kelly (Samuel) Studer of Channahon. Proud aunt of four nieces and one nephew. Karen and her family shared a special bond beyond words. Her main passion was enjoying life with her family.
Karen graduated with the Class of 1970 from Joliet Central High School, and attended Joliet Junior College. Formerly employed by the E J & E Railroad and Harrah's Casino.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home. Interment was in Brown Cemetery in Elwood. Visitation was held Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
