Obituary of Florence Kern

Florence M. Kern (nee Timoney) Age 80. Friday, March 21, 2008 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born December 8, 1927 in Chicago, she was a lifetime Joliet resident. Employed as an operator at Illinois Bell Telephone Company, retiring in 1975. Member of the Church of St. Jude, Joliet. Preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Nora (nee Gordan) Timoney; one daughter, Debra L. Sing (1998); and two sisters, Lucille N. Zeman (1999), and Jean (late Fred) Marino (2005). Survived by her loving husband, Frank E. "Bunny" Kern; two daughters, Sharon A. (Randy) Alling of Channahon and Susan M. (Steve) Canupp of Elwood; one son, Terry L. (Mary) Kern of Joliet; grandchildren, Stephanie, Shawna, Evan, Jordan, Eryn, Jennifer, Emily, Brandon and Sara; four great-grandsons, Fred, Matt, Andrew and Daniel; one sister, Lorraine (Robert) Lewis of Plainfield; brother-in-law, Eugene Zeman of Sarasota, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Florence M. Kern will be Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to the Church of St. Jude for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
