Sam H. Paul
Age 92. Born October 14, 1920, the Lord took him to Eternal life on March 31, Easter Sunday, 2013, with his family by his side. A lifelong Troy/Shorewood resident, the son of Harold D. and Bessie (nee Kavanaugh) Paul. He attended Troy Schools and was a graduate of Joliet Township High School, Class of 1939. He was a WWII Army Air Force veteran, serving with the 8th Air Force in England as Crew Chief. Active in Republican party his entire life, he served as Troy Township Clerk, Troy Township Supervisor and 11 years as a Will County Board member. He was elected to five terms as the Will County Circuit Court Clerk and retired in 1988. He was one of the original organizers of the Troy Township Volunteer Fire Department and served as the First President. He was Joliet Catholic High "Man of the Year". Member of the Church of St. Jude, Joliet, Matteson Lodge #175 AF&AM, Joliet Elks Lodge #296, the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #300, Will County Retirees, the Will County Senior Citizens (St. Joes Park), and life member of Cantigny Post VFW #367.
Preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Raymond (late Virginia) Paul.
Survived by his wife of 65 years, Eileen A. (nee Ruettiger) Paul; sons, William S. Paul of Euless, TX, and Robert H. (Annette) Paul of Mishicot WI; four grandchildren, Theresa, (Jason) Talkington of Hurst, TX, Matthew of Euless, TX, Jacob (Erin) of Wilson, NC, and Emily of Cedarburg, WI; one sister, Marjorie (late William) Horwath of Las Vegas, NV; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Sam H. Paul will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 9:15 a.m. from Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to the Church of St. Jude for Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
