Obituary of Eugene Sowa

Eugene W. Sowa Age 72. Passed away Friday, July 12, 2013 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center. A lifelong Joliet resident, graduate of Joliet Township High School and a retired ComEd electrician. He was also a Hunter Safety instructor and former owner of Midwest Traders. He taught himself to play the classical guitar and was the photographer at family events. A lifetime member of NRA and the Illinois Rifle Association. Survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Lorraine (nee Colzani) Sowa; two sons, David (Laurie) Sowa, Paul Sowa, Sr.; two daughters, Lori Allensworth and Beth (Robert) Elliott; his mother, Elizabeth Sowa; two brothers, Leonard Sowa and Alan (Laurie) Sowa; one sister, Lillian (Douglas) Haywood; eight grandchildren, Paul Sowa Jr., Michelle Sowa, Thomas (fiancee Nicole) Sowa, Ryan, Tyler and Megan Allensworth, Robert "Bo" Elliott, Jr. and Nina Elliott; one great-grandchild, Mia Pearl Elliott; one brother-in-law, Francis (the late Carroll) Colzani; and sister-in-law, Sondra (the late Richard) Colzani. Preceded by his father, Walter Sowa. Funeral Services for Eugene W. Sowa will be held Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale, IL for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family would like to express their profound gratitude to all of the medical professionals on Five West Oncology at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center for their kind and compassionate care they provided to Eugene and our family.
