We'll be missing a good person, great mentor and helping soul, remembering 2004 when he was in India for a training program those days are still in memories and our guru to JD Edwards World. May his soul rest in peace. Sympathy and prayers to his family
I worked with john for many years at the chicago offices of JDEdwards. Smart as a whip and always smiling working with john was fun. He would get the job done, always beyond expectations, and alwys with a smile. No challenge was too great or to small.
John will be missed by all who knew and loved him. My most Sincere condolences.
I came to know John at JD Edwards back in the early 2000's. He became a leader on my team and I remember well how distinctly his integrity, character, and personal commitment shined through everything that he put his name on. His team recognized that, our customers recognized that, and I recognized that over the decade that I was fortunate enough to call John a colleague and friend. He was always willing to do whatever he could to help others and 100s of others will echo that exact generosity. I will miss one of my most trusted colleagues that I have ever had the privilege to work with, but I will miss more the person who I could share a laugh with and call friend. His character and commitment were only outshined by his love for his family, which he always shared, and for them I extend my deepest sorrow and prayers.
John and I worked together at JDEdwards for some time and he was always the most friendly and fun person to be around. John has the respect of everyone around him and will never be forgotten. My thoughts and prays go out to his family and friends.
I had the pleasure of working with John over the years at JDEdwards/Oracle. He was a great manager and co-worker who was always willing to help, mentor and listen to those he worked with. He was someone that I respect and admired for the way he approached business challenges. I have many fond memories working with him on various projects and tasks. My thoughts, sympathy and prayers to his family and those that knew him.
John and I started at JD Edwards around the same time and got to be friends quickly. As a fellow Sox fan, I enjoyed sharing a block of season tickets with John and others which is one of the things I missed most when I moved to SC. John was an easy going guy with a big smile and infectious laugh, easy to talk with, and always willing to help out. He was a most excellent man. Sleep easy Long-John.
Doug (as I always knew him) and I were buddies along with our friend Andy Best. We shared many great times together as kids growing up on the same street in Decatur. There wasn't a summer that went by that we weren't together doing what kids do, riding our bikes, playing ball, pranks on each other and the occasional mischief. Doug had this infectious laugh and incredible sense of humor. Thanks for all the wonderful memories! My sincerest heartfelt sympathies to Doug's wife and children, his sister Susan and wonderful Mom, Mrs. Long.
John was a fantastic person and a wonderful boss. He will be missed.
I really cannot thank you enough for all the support and guidance you have provided over the past few years. Our thoughts and prayers with he family, to take you through this difficult time. I will remember John in my prayers.
John Long was an amazing father, husband, and friend. I had the great pleasure of getting to know John as co-workers at J.D.Edwards in the late 90's early 2000's. Co-workers and customers alike adored John, not only for his technical acumen, but his willingness to always lend a hand and do whatever it took to get the job done. I was fortunate enough to establish a friendship with John outside of work. This is where I discovered his love for family and the White Sox. John loved sharing stories about he and Sharon's travels watching their children play sports and other activities. My favorite John long memory is sharing the White Sox run to the title in 2005.That was our 7th year together as season ticket holders. What a rush. We all got to see some amazing games that fall. John will be greatly missed. God bless to Sharon and the kids.
John is and will continue to be missed. John was a fantastic person who gave his all, all the time.
Thank You John for being a great mentor, boss, friend, coach, team member and of course your sense of humor. Thoughts, Prayers and condolences go out to his family and all he knew.
To John's family and friends - the team at JD Edwards / PeopleSoft / Oracle are very sorry for your loss. I first met John over 10 years ago at work and we have worked together for the majority of that time. He was a tremendous person and touched the lives of many members of the Oracle team and our customers across the country. John's name has continued to come up weekly since he has been on medical leave with questions "When is John coming back?". It is with a heavy heart that we learned today of John's passing. We will miss him dearly and our thoughts and prayers are with John's family and all that knew him.
